There is a song the only way I know. Some of the lyrics go something like this. Hit it hard to the sun goes down. That old red dirt, the first thing you learn is you don’t get anything that you don’t earn. Don’t back up and don’t back down. Full throttle wide open. That is the only way I know. Hit the wall smoking a spinning still not thinking about nothing but winning.
Successful people generally have an edge. What is it? They’re willing to work 14 to 18 hours a day, wake up and do it all over again. I’ve heard of, listen too, and watched successful people, and mostly I just see an incredible work ethic. I generally don’t see a genius. I see this person that is willing to put in crazy amounts of hours and is passionate way beyond average. That is not something you can fake.
Most of the super successful, I think it was because of the work ethic. Also, the study, which consists of getting more information, is vital to becoming better. Next, the leverage they use sometimes is really important. Next, the leadership they had or learned on how to think beyond just the simple path is an important step for growth. There is a saying you don’t know what you don’t know. Sometimes you have to study up and even find mentors or someone to model that will teach you tactics and leadership. Think on the next level beyond the mere basics. Some have a great process they apply to help build, put in place, and refine what they re doing. I really don’t believe in self-made people. Everybody had some help along the way. So the next things are the relationships they had. Even if there were no people there, they used tools, ideas, and resources that made them better or allowed them to continue.
I have said before, don’t be afraid to ask the question because the person you are asking probably learned it from someone else. I heard a story one time that said some people learn from deducing the information and watching others, some from education, and the rest well they have to pee on the electric fence like everyone else.
Learn to put good in, seek out wise counsel and try to think before you do.
Another important thing is the development of character, integrity, and also there faith and relationship with God. I’m not just talking about having money. The people that excel way passed average sometimes got it by doing what I mention below.
They’re super knowledgable about a subject or subjects sometimes because they got it the hard way they dug it out. I’ve thought for a while that knowledge and hard work might be better to have that superior intellect.
Sometimes I think one of the next things that are super important is what someone does when they hit a roadblock or think I don’t know what to do next. If it is a problem, what now research? That is one of the keys is what you do next with any problem. How you choose to deal with it. Also on another thing is when there seems to be no problem.
That is to say, you have a successful area of your life, and you get satisfied and stop pushing forward. You may even ask yourself, why should I do any different? I’ve got what I need, I’m happy. When is it enough? Some look at it as a bad thing people that keep striving for something when they have more than enough. I think it is about what you are focused on. Let’s look at two scenarios.
1. You have plenty of money, you think. What should you do? Maybe instead of getting more money, you pivot more toward charity and putting your money to work with building a system that helps people now and into the future.
2. In the second scenario, your business is successful; you don’t have plenty, but you’re doing ok. Well, maybe you pivot here too with charity and helping others. Also, you think, how can I increase my business? Have I reached the top level of where I can take this business in this market? Sometimes it is the questions you ask yourself that matter. What about do I have the leadership I need to take this to the next level, or do I need to seek out someone else? Can I think about going into a different area or applying this in another way? What are some of the other things people are doing in a business like mine? Are they coming up with different ideas? What is a way I can come up with some new ideas? Do I need to look for a mentor? These are all questions you can ask and probably should ask, but below is a question that is interesting to me.
How can you compete with someone that digs and digs and works 14 hours a day? Not to mention they love the work, and they’re constantly looking for leverage, a better process, to have better leadership, better relationships, looking for mentors, etc. You better hope you are not in their field if you are not willing to put the work in.
Their is another component creativity that comes to mind a time to stop and think about things differently. Sometimes it can yield great results. I believe one of the best things you can do is keep putting good information in like these podcast notes and other great tactics.
Hopefully, it will give you a great idea, but at the least, maybe it will make you think about something in a different way or just give you another perspective. There was a saying one time that went something like this. Doing the same thing over and over that didn’t work before and expecting a different result is insanity. I don’t know if that is entirely true, but being able to learn something, change a little something, look at something differently, either through your eyes or someones else point of view, may give you the edge you need to be successful. Getting more great information sometimes is what we need.
I may be wrong, but you would probably rather be a person that would put the time in and get the knowledge rather than have a great intellect that is never used to its full extent.
Learning to fail not on purpose but looking at it as wow, there’s a gold nugget that I can learn. Often this is what is needed to succeed later.
Sometimes it is the 1000 action you put in and all those failures that make you better than the person that only tried a few times and gave up. Keep adapting. Stop looking at little failures as losses start looking at them as opportunities to learn. You are growing if your learning.
Next, find out what you truly want and start going after those dreams you need to go after.
This is a really long post, but I want you to consider something that is making your mind up about the person you want to be and living intentionally. So many people are waiting for someone else to tell them what to do. They are waiting for someone to judge them too, that is a lot of weight to carry around. Decide Today what kind of person you are going to be and what you are going to do and commit to it.
